Animation Summer School 2006 / Course designer and leader
In this 2 week animation course, 12 young people worked with 3 artists. In the 2 weeks, students learned the process of storytelling by:
- viewing selected traditional and digital animations from the 50's to present day. These viewings were followed by discussion about characters journeys and ways to tell a story using sound, graphics, facial expression etc.
- develop characters by writing 'biography' profiles about them and what character traits and goals in the story.
- creating and working from a storyboard to work out ideas and refer back to.
- recording sound from various sources; using iMovie and SoundEdit to edit audio and video material to create pace and point of view.
