Lindsay Perth is a Canadian born artist, who has lived in Scotland since 1986. A graduate from Duncan of Jordanstone in BFA Printmaking and PostDip Electronic Imaging, Perth’s arts practice is engaged with ideas of liminal states, such as the politics of identity via cultural and societal framing. Perth's intention is to work within littoral art spaces, often those which engage in collaborative art processes. Perth’s approach to art making includes a socially inclusive one. Although predominantly but not defined by media based work, it is an approach that is interdisciplinary including screen-based work, installation, photography and performance. Perth has worked for nearly ten years with cultural and arts organisations across Scotland as a commissioned artist, educator and facilitator, arts project coordinator, curator, consultant and public artist collaborating with communities. Perth is an Associate Lecturer on the Time Based Art BFA at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee Scotland, and continues to develop her art and design projects. She has recently returned to the UK from working abroad in British Columbia as a Media Arts Consultant for Trinity Western University with the Faculty of Fine Arts as an evaluator, advisor, facilitator and fine arts lecturer. Forthcoming projects include working with Street Level Gallery in Glasgow, as artist in residence in the Springburn area collaborating with the refugee and asylum seeker and wider communities. |
